“My goal is to give each family the same level of personalized care that I wanted for my own grandparents. I’ve seen how the system works and I wanted to provide an alternative to the standard profit motivated process out there.”

Personal Experience

“It was the decline of my grandparents’ health that inspired me to create Loveland Care. After my grandfather had a fall, I moved in with my grandparents for 5 months.  During that time, I entrusted a company to help with an assisted living solution as it was too much for me to handle. The salesperson (Counselor) seemed very sympathetic and knowledgeable, but after placing my grandparents in their recommended facility, I realized that the placement firm had looked past my grandfather’s cognitive needs. Upon visiting my grandparents, I discovered that the overall service level (cleanliness, activities, and care) which was sold to my family, was much lower than represented.

This was deeply disappointing and stressful. I immediately started a deep dive into the State of Utah’s varying levels of senior care facilities. I did twelve visit tours to look for a better match. Four of them came to the top of my list and I realized that the placement firm I had used had ‘pre-selected’ and ‘pre-sold’ the dysfunctional home to us from the beginning. Later I learned that the home was paying the largest fee back to the placement company and they had a volume-based bonus structure in their placement agreement. Upon further research, I found this was common practice among placement firms, which was extremely disheartening. This company, and many others that function the same, are still open and doing business in Utah.”
